Teaching Tricks
Teaching tricks is a great way of spending one-to-one time with your dog.
Tricks are taught using positive training methods with lots of praise and reward. Dogs respond because it is fun, plus they are receiving lots of attention from their owner.
There are various different training techniques for trick training including Clicker Training, Luring and Shaping. A dog can learn tricks regardless of breed, size or age.

Trick training is great fun for both dog and owner. It only needs 5 to 10 minutes a day. It also provides valuable mental stimulation for your dog, which can go a long way towards preventing boredom leading to behavioural problems.
Examples of tricks to learn are:-
- Shake a Paw
- High Five
- Wave
- Roll Over
- Crawl
- Bow
- Twist Left/Twist Right
- Fetch Items
- Put Toys Away
- Weave through legs...
... the list is endless, and once you understand the concept of the training methods, the only limitations are your dog's capabilities and your own imagination.
